    The Sayville Young People’s Opera Workshop (SYPOW) was organized in the summer of 1996 when voice teacher Donna Hailey said to drama teacher Steven Hailey, “We need somewhere to introduce opera and operetta to young people.”

    August 2017 Events:

    Wednesday evening August 9 the Sayville Young People’s Opera Workshop will present its twenty-second annual singers’ showcase “Songs for a Summer Eve” consisting of solos, duets and small ensembles singing pop songs and musical theater pieces as well as classical works sung by performers ranging in age from six to sixty in the air-conditioned David M. Jones auditorium in the Sayville Middle School, 291 Johnson Avenue, Sayville, NY beginning at 7:30 P.M.  There is no charge for admission.  For additional information, please go to http://sypow.tripod.com/

    The evenings of Thursday August 10 and Friday August 11 the Sayville Young People’s Opera Workshop will present its twenty-second annual summer music program “From Then to Now” featuring classical music pieces, opera, operetta, musical theater (old and new), as well as some modern popular pieces. Performances will take place in the air-conditioned David M. Jones auditorium in the Sayville Middle School, 291 Johnson Avenue, Sayville, NY beginning at 7:30 both evenings.  There is no charge for admission.  For additional information, please go to http://sypow.tripod.com/
