A Royal Tea to benefit the Cavalier Alliance

    by Pamela Fitzpatrick

On Sunday, March 5, the NY/NJ Cavalier King Charles Spaniel meetup and the Facebook Tri-State King Charles Spaniel Group hosted their first annual “Kings Tea.”

http://www.sayville.com/banners/Yourdog_appaws.jpgThe tea, held at the Bates House in Setauket, brought together over 100 Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and their owners.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are eager, affectionate happy dogs, and it was amazing to be among such a huge crowd of them,  Also known as English Toy Spaniels, there are four colors: King Charles ( black and tan) Prince Charles ( white with black and tan patches) Blenheim ( white with red patches) and Ruby (red). These lovable dogs have been linked with English royalty all the back to the early 1500s.

Intelligent and with a stable temperament, the King Charles are typically lapdogs and fit well into family life.  Their easygoing temper was in evidence at the tea- all of the dogs socialized  well with each other and a good time was had by all.

Tea and finger foods were served, and the (human) guests enjoyed a Chinese auction.  A live auction was also held with a number of exciting donated items.

The Cavalier  Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on senior and special needs Cavalier King Charles spaniel.

Congratulations to the organization on a great first annual fundraiser! for more information on the research, rescue and education services, visit www.cavalieralliance.org
