The Long Island Maritime Museum was founded in 1966 and is located on the historic West Sayville waterfront.
The museum grounds, once part of the Meadow Edge estate of Mr. and Mrs. Anson Hard, is now comprised of fourteen acres and nine historic buildings. Charged with the mission of preserving Long Island’s maritime history and heritage for educational purposes, the Museum has been welcoming visitors from all over the world for over 40 years.
MONDAY, February 20, 10:00 – 12:00 Noon
Presidents’ Day: Children will have fun with hands on activities and art projects that involve our past Presidents George Washington & Abraham Lincoln. We will learn about good character & leadership qualities.
TUESDAY, February 21, 10:00 – 12:00 Noon
Birds: Children will learn about the birds that inhabit our lakes, beaches, marshes, and trees and have the opportunity to participate in science experiments followed by projects for the birds
WEDNESDAY, February 22, 10:00 – 12:00 Noon
Polar Pals: Create art projects, conduct experiments, and play games relating to the polar animals we learn about. Children will develop an understanding of the majestic creatures that live in the Arctic.
THURSDAY, February 23, 10:00 – 12:00 Noon
Catch of the Day!: Children will take a closer look at our environment and explore ways to take care of it. After discussing ways to keep our community, waters, and beaches clean, we will use recycled materials to create whale and penguin art projects!
FRIDAY, February 24, 10:00 – 12:00 Noon
Surf’s Up, Tie Dye Shirts: Long Island is home to some of the most beautiful beaches. After engaging in a lesson about waves and surfing, children will make their very own “Surf’s Up! Tie Dye T-Shirt”
FOR CHILDREN AGES 6 THROUGH 11
Each class is $15.00 per child
A 20% discount is offered on a FULL WEEK registration ($60.00 vs $75.00)
LIMM members receive a 10% discount
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED – CALL TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT
All classes begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. and children must be picked up by 12:00 noon.
Students should wear art and weather appropriate clothing.
