Get Your Future On! Video Contest Winner

Trina Clarke, a special career education student from Sayville UFSD, in Eastern Suffolk BOCES (ESBOCES) Canine Careers Program at Islip Career Center, captured first place in the Get Your Future On! video contest.

Trina created a video so viewers could spend a day with her in the Canine Careers Program. “I wanted everyone to see my classroom, and all the skills I’m learning like grooming, massaging the animals, and handling them,” she said. She wanted to win the TV so when her friends came over to her house to hang out, they could watch their favorite shows together.

Trina’s video received 759 views on the ESBOCES YouTube channel and 236 votes. Her video secured the most votes so she won a Philips 32-inch Smart Wi-Fi TV. It hooks to the internet and has apps for Netflix and Hulu.

The TV was donated by the ESBOCES Electronics Program.

Electronics Program Teacher Christopher Tierney said, “We have an ongoing relationship with P.C. Richards. They donate broken TVs that customers choose not to have repaired. Students repair them and we get to keep them. We raffle them off or give them away.”

“I love animals, I’m very happy people got to see what I do in my class at BOCES, and I’m especially happy that I won the TV,” said Trina.

Leah Arnold, director of Career, Technical and Adult Education, Principal Peter LePore, Electronics Program Teacher Chris Tierney, and Canine Career Teacher Lisa Konnerth present Trina with a new TV.
