    VFW Post 433 Fishing Trip

Members of Sayville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 433 and their families embarked on a wonderful day of fishing on Tuesday September 1.

It was a beautiful morning when everyone boarded the Bay Princess II at the Captree Boat Basin to spend the day on the Great South Bay. Though there were not a lot of “keepers” we had the satisfaction of knowing we were feeding the little fluke.

Biggest fluke caught was by Michael Alcabes at 18.5 inches with second place going to Don Valenti at 18 inches. Additionally 2 Sea Bass were caught which apparently is rare in the Bay. One was caught by Faye Cambria and one by Rick Erdmann. It was a great day and everyone looks forward to making this an annual event.

A very special thanks to Commander Joe White who organized this event, and the local community members who helped defray the cost of the trip. Seth Needleman, The Fish Store, Bayport; Rich D’Andrea, Raynor and D’Andrea, West Sayville and Bayport; Nick Burford, The Wave Gas Station and Convenience Store, Patchogue; Kathy Heinlein, Captree Fishing Fleet; and Capt Nick Manzari, Bay Princess, Captree.
