    Review “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.”

    By Joan O’Sullivan Lengyel

I was rather disappointed by this film. A Guy Ritchie vehicle excited me.  Loved his “RocknRoller” (Gerard Butler, Tom Wilkerson). The first comment I heard was:  “it was all right” with a shrug and a roll of the eyes.

My word to describe it was it was “FLAT.” When I read it was a comedy that sent me off the track, no way.  If there was comedy it went over my head.  The characters: one a CIA Agent and the other KGB operative, respectively Henry Covill and Armie Hammer and a third spy Alicia Vikander.

It was like a movie done by the numbers that we have seen over and over.  One thing that was done well was the split screen action.  You hit the major cities Rome, Berlin with stock footage.  Some kudos must go to wardrobe but there was very little of that.

I still cannot figure out why this movie was so off base.   There wasn’t even a musical score to push the film along.
