Ms. Michelle’s Gluten Free Bakery Announces Major International Expansion Plan

Ms. Michelle’s Gluten Free (MMGF) announces their most ambitious plan in the history of the company – global markets expansion. Over the past 2 years, the company has developed from a single Farmer’s Market stand selling only gluten free muffins, to a national, award-winning, independent operation serving both retail and wholesale customers.

The company took a major step towards fulfilling its goal when Michelle Gillette-Kelly, the company Co-Founder, Owner and CEO was joined by Thomas Kelly, the Vice President for West Coast Operations, in attending the “Discover Global Markets” conference in Los Angeles, California from June 2 – 4. The event focused on helping US businesses export their products to markets throughout the entire European continent.

The conference was sponsored by the US Commercial Service, a division of the United States Department of Commerce. Participation in this event proved to be a complete and unqualified success for MMGF. Michelle and Thomas personally met with several foreign diplomats from countries throughout the European Union.

Their meetings covered a wide variety of mission critical topics. Ms. Gillette-Kelly was able to identify the cultural desire that individual European countries have for quality gluten free products. There was also information obtained on how to identify, vet and select overseas distributions partners. Probably the single most important result from the conference is that MMGF was able to dialogue directly with the specific countries best suited for initial product placement.

“This was a watershed event for Ms. Michelle’s, and something we’ve been hoping to step into since starting the company over 2 years ago”, said Gillette-Kelly. She added “internally, we debated the decision to even attend the conference at all, and thank goodness we did. There is no doubt that it has been the smartest and most important decision the company has made all year!”

Thomas Kelly had this to say regarding the event: “The Discover Global Markets event was a real eye-opener and seriously impressive. Prior to showing up, we assumed we’d pick up one or two bits of information and that would be about it. I’ve been to a lot of conferences and they usually come across as a glorified sales pitch.

But this was completely different. I never expected the event to be so practical and so useful.” Mr. Kelly added: “the best part is now the company has a real, useable plan. We know what to do today, and we know what to do next. I must admit I was a little blown away by the effectiveness of this event. My hat is off to the Commercial Service Department.”
